GAME PLOT
In 1306, the Grimaldis, exiled from Genoa, were looking to reclaim power. Genoa requested 29 nobles to quell the uprising. These paid for the galley fleet, which saved the Republic under the command of admiral Vignoso. The Republic rewarded its sons with the island of Chios in the Aegean Sea and the alum mines of Phocaea in Asia Minor. 12 of them set up a company, the “Maona of Chios and Phocaea” and by controlling of all merchant routes from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean they became very powerful. In fact, too powerful for the taste of the Sultans in the East.
